Brightening Up Downtown: Colorful Window Clings on the Ritchie Building
Before
After
One of the things we love most about being part of the DRP and our Design Committee is finding simple, creative ways to make downtown feel welcoming—even while buildings are in transition. Our latest project, completed in July, is a perfect example of that.
The Ritchie family is currently remodeling their building on Washington Street, and as anyone who has ever taken on a big renovation knows, construction can sometimes look a little rough from the outside. Dusty windows, tools everywhere—it’s just part of the process.
When that type of work is going on, the window can look grimy and the work inside looks rough. That’s just part of the process, but we thought we could help with the look.
Showcasing Local Student Artwork
To bring some life to the building during renovations, we installed colorful window clings designed using artwork from Ravenswood students. Thanks to a partnership with ArtCart Inc., we were able to take student creativity and turn it into something vibrant for the whole community to enjoy.
Now, instead of blank or dusty glass, the building windows are filled with bright, cheerful designs.
This project is just one small piece of our larger vision for downtown Ravenswood. Along with our newly added flower boxes and other design improvements, projects like these help create a downtown that feels alive, inviting, and true to our community spirit—even as buildings are being restored for future use.
We can’t wait to see the Ritchie building once renovations are complete, but for now, we’re proud that the windows reflect the energy and creativity of Ravenswood.
